Monthly imports drop 12.5%. Australia, Canada & New Zealand down. Argentina, Costa Rica & Honduras up.

Cattle traded over $86 for two weeks and then dropped off a cliff to $83.80. Beef production, cattle slaughter & weights down. Beef loads back up to normal after two light weeks. You could see boxed beef go up $1 based on the beef/pork spread. Open interest dropped for the first time in weeks. Long/Short spread widened. Exports were down this week but have generally been pretty good. Cattle on feed report released on Friday.

Good news: beef exports projected up; imports down. Offset, however, by higher production and lower consumption.
