October brought abundant rain to Tennessee, as well as buyers and sellers for the annual Tennessee Hereford Marketing Program (THMP) feeder calf sale Oct. 26, 2009.

Only in its first year, the Kentucky Certified Hereford Influenced Sale was a great success. October 27 sellers earned premiums of more than $8 per hundredweight (cwt.) for steers and $10 per cwt. for heifers. Those premiums were multiplied on 532 head sold at the Blue Grass Stockyards South, Stanford, Ky.

Hereford exhibitors were honored for showcasing their breeding programs at national and regional shows throughout the past year. Nov. 1 during the American Royal National Hereford Show in Kansas City, awards for champion Hereford show heifer, show bull and premier exhibitor were presented to recipients in each of four U.S. regions.

honored as Golden Breeders Nov. 2. Jack Ward, American Hereford
Association (AHA) chief operating officer and director of breed
improvement, presented the awards at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting
in Kansas City.
