Ground beef prices down 21 cents from last year.

Cattle traded over $86 for two weeks and then dropped off a cliff to $83.80. Beef production, cattle slaughter & weights down. Beef loads back up to normal after two light weeks. You could see boxed beef go up $1 based on the beef/pork spread. Open interest dropped for the first time in weeks. Long/Short spread widened. Exports were down this week but have generally been pretty good. Cattle on feed report released on Friday.

Beef production under 500 mp. Cattle weights down 1 pound. Beef & pork prices up slightly.
