The US Dollar Index fell to a new low for the move on Monday, but
posted an outside week higher on the charts. It will be interesting to
see if we get any follow through strength in the Dollar next week.

Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in Idaho from
feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head on November 1, 2009
totaled 210,000 head, according to the National Agricultural Statistics

Cattle and calves on feed for slaughter market in Texas feedlots with
capacity of 1,000 head or more totaled 2.73 million head on November 1,
up 1 percent from a year ago. According to the monthly report released
by the Texas Field Office, the estimate was up 5 percent from the
October 1 level.

Stocker producers generally have a number of choices regarding stocker
cattle purchases including the initial weight, quality and gender of
animals. In some situations, there is more profit potential in buying
“bargain” cattle that will require more health management and rely less
on gain.
