Cattle Ranch Of The Week: BullSchmitt CattleBullSchmitt Cattle is a growing cattle company with an emphasis towards performance and serving the commercial cattle producer. Via embryo imports and transfer, as well as the utilization of AI they intend to push the breed towards curve bending bulls who can meet the needs of today’s cattleman. They have a heavy influence from the famed Willalooka Pastoral Company and famed performance bulls such as Willalooka Pharaoh, Willalooka Leopold, Willalooka Java, Lindsay Elect, Willalooka Power, and Willalooka Unity have been utilized to form the foundation of their herd. These bulls all have curve bending characteristics which enable BullSchmitt to provide its customers with problem free bulls to meet customer needs.

BullSchmitt started with ERM Justifiable Arrogance 15P, still the breed leader for Calving Ease, who was heavily muscled and very long - with a very impressive hind quarters. He was a son of the Canadian import LB Grey Kringle, a black Willalooka Power grandson noted for his superb females. “Justin” was a fine bull Cattle Ranch Of The Week: BullSchmitt Cattlewhose EPD’s were artificially low due to the heavy Canadian influence on both sides of his Pedigree. When an accumulation of daughters began to make another bull necessary, BullSchmitt chose Eagle’s Run Hillbilly to continue its commitment to excellence.

Hillbilly is a very deep and dark embryo import son of Willalooka Unity. His mother, Willalooka P278, was chosen for the flush from over 1000 females as the finest representative of Willalooka genes available. Hillbilly is being crossed on their 15P daughters as well as the fine Pharaoh, Elect, Showboat, Diplomat, and Power bred females that they have purchased from leading Murray Grey studs to complement him. Thus far Hillbilly has thrown a disproportionately large number of black calves (better than 60%, the rest silver) when bred to a mob containing no black females. His birthweights are averaging 68 lbs, and though BullSchmitt has no weaning data yet they anticipate his growth to be strong; enabling them to continue their commitment to producing curve Cattle Ranch Of The Week: BullSchmitt Cattlebending bulls.

Their primary objective is to produce seedstock that will increase the profitability of their customer’s herds. Given the Murray Grey’s historical tradition of producing fine carcass animals with strong maternal traits and efficient gain, they are keeping all of these traits in focus with DNA testing to ensure Quality. They are then attempting to blend these traits with pure unadulterated growth as measured via performance testing as a means of making customers money. BullSchmitt believes that the surest way to guarantee its profitability is to ensure yours.
