MILLSBORO, Del. (April 2, 2008) –– Implanting cattle is now simplified. In conjunction with the launch of the new Revalor®-XS implant, the beef industry’s first delayed-release combination implant, Intervet Inc. introduces Rev-X Universal Implant Tool for use with all Revalor and Finaplix® products.

“As with Revalor-XS, Intervet is bringing products to the market to simplify the implanting process,” says John Hutcheson, Ph.D., Intervet Director of Performance Technologies.

“Regardless of which form of Revalor performance you choose, the new Rev-X Universal Implant Tool will ensure full and accurate insertion of the implant.”

Hutcheson also notes that the universal implant tool is convenient for cattle feeders who may still use the traditional Revalor and Finaplix products in their operations. Feeders have the ability to switch use of implants without keeping separate tools for each implant.

The new universal implant tool is mechanically identical to the proven, reliable traditional Revalor implant tool but features a new longer needle and plunger to ensure full insertion of the entire 10-pellet Revalor-XS implant.

The new Rev-X Universal Implant Tool is ideal for our delayed-release implants,” Hutcheson adds. “Revalor-XS provides all the power with half the work, and the new implant tool makes that work even easier.”

Cattle feeders may still use the existing Revalor implant tool to administer Revalor-XS implants, but Hutcheson encourages extra care be taken so the needle is fully inserted, ensuring proper placement of all 10 implant pellets. As always, correct implanting technique and sanitation is crucial to the success of any implant program. Feedyard managers interested in providing implant technique training to their processing crew can contact their Intervet sales representative.
