Dave Weaber
Director of Market Analysis, Swift & Company
In February 2005, Dave joined Swift & Company in the newly created position of Director of Market Analysis.He is responsible for market research and forecasting in the cattle, beef, hog and pork markets as well tracking changes in the other commodity and competing meat markets.Dave also works in the analysis of foreign markets and trade.Prior to joining Swift & Company, Dave spent seven years at Cattle-Fax, most recently in the position of Director of Research and Special Projects where he was responsible for analysis of Cattle-Fax feedlot inventory data, short and long term projections, special research projects and supervising the Research Department.
He also served as market analyst for the Pacific Northwest feedlot, stocker and cow-calf members of the organization.Dave was a Dairy Nutritionist with Moorman’s Inc. of Quincy, Illinois for one year and was based in Northern Colorado.He served on the Board of Trustees of the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund for four years and on the Board of Directors and as President of its subsidiary, The Hudson Ranch, LLC for three years.Dave earned a Master of Science degree in Animal Science from ColoradoStateUniversity in 1996.His graduate research focused on ruminant trace mineral nutrition. He also completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science at ColoradoStateUniversity in 1993. Dave was raised on his family’s cattle and sheep ranch in Southern Colorado.Dave, his wife Natalie and daughter Lauren reside near Eaton, Colorado.
Bob Weaber
Assistant Professor and State Extension Specialist-Beef Genetics, University of Missouri
Bob recently joined the faculty of the Division of Animal Sciences at the University of Missouri as an Assistant Professor and State Extension Specialist-Beef Genetics.Bob completed his doctoral studies in the Animal Breeding and Genetics Group at CornellUniversity under the direction of Dr. John Pollak.While a graduate student at CornellUniversity, he served as the Interim Director of Performance Programs for the American Simmental Association for three and one-half years.Bob is a member of the Board of Directors of the Beef Improvement Federation.Bob’s research interests include genetic evaluation systems for large commercial ranches, multi-breed genetic evaluation and crossbreeding systems.
Prior to joining the research team at Cornell, Bob was Director of Education and Research at the American Gelbvieh Association for five years.Bob earned a Master’s degree in the Beef Industry Leadership Program at ColoradoStateUniversity where he worked with Dr. Tom Field.He is also the recipient of a B.S. degree from ColoradoState in Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Economics.Bob is originally from Southern Colorado where his family’s ranch is located.Bob and his wife, Tami, reside near Harrisburg, Missouri.
