Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 3:30 PM

Today’s Estimated Sales Volume: None
Trading was inactive in all feeding regions Friday. Total negotiated trade for
the Texas Panhandle was 32,853 with live from 87.00 to mostly 88.00. Kansas traded
44,166 head, live sales sold at 87.00 early and closed the week at 87.50 with dressed
sales at 139.00. Nebraska sold 56,889 head with dressed sales at 135.00 and live
sales sold from 86.00-87.00. Colorado sold 8,854 head from 86.00-88.00. Some feedlot
managers took advantage of this week’s bids and sold next week’s show list to packer
buyers late in the week with a favorable basis.
Friday afternoon boxed beef cutout values weak on light demand and offerings.
Choice cutout closed down .33 at 140.83 and Select down .62 at 135.38 with 194 total
loads sold. Estimated cattle slaughter for Friday was reported at 120,000, Saturday’s
estimate came in at 31,000. The week to date is at 651,000 head. This is 11,000 head
more than last year’s actual slaughter of 640,000. The hide and offal value from a
typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 8.44 per cwt live, up 0.06 when
compared to Thursday's value.
Note: prices are based on net weights FOB the feedlot after a 3-4% shrink
unless otherwise noted. Dressed prices based on hot carcass weights delivered
to the plant.

and volume collected from feedlots or their representatives cooperating
on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and
more frequently during active trading periods.
