During the weekend, tropical moisture—including the remnants of
Hurricane Ida—will move northward across the Gulf of Mexico. Rainfall
could reach portions the U.S. Gulf Coast by Sunday before overspreading
the Southeast early next week.

Warmth currently centered over the western half of the U.S. will shift
eastward, reaching the Midwest, South, and East during the weekend and
early next week. In contrast, cooler air will gradually overspread the
West, accompanied by as much as 4 to 6 inches of precipitation in the
Pacific Northwest.

Looking Ahead: During the next 5 days (November 4-8), a warming trend
will occur over much of the United States, centered over the High
Plains. Temperatures should be 6-12 degrees Fahrenheit above normal,
with the greatest departures over Nebraska and South Dakota.

For the remainder of the week, mostly dry weather will prevail across
the southern half of the U.S. Farther north, cool conditions and
scattered rain and snow showers will affect the Great Lakes and
Northeastern States. Meanwhile, wet weather will arrive in the Pacific
Northwest, where precipitation totals may exceed 5 inches.

Live cattle futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME)
were up on Monday. Short covering, a weaker U.S.
dollar, higher cash cattle, and gains in the Dow-Jones and other
outside markets were supportive.
