Slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas, Texas/Oklahoma;
Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota. Not enough sales to establish a
trend. Steers: Live basis; (all Grades: 292 head) 88.00. Dressed Basis; (all
Grades: 46 head) 133.00-134.00, weighted average 133.74. Heifers: Live Basis;
(all Grades: 125 head) 80.00-88.00, weighted average 82.88. Dressed Basis; (all
Grades: 740 head) 134.00.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 1.00 higher with
good demand. Quality of feeders plain to average. Steer and heifer calves
1.00-3.00 higher. Calf demand good and improved. Weather has cleared and
warmed up and these conditions expected through the week. Wheat pasture should
improve. Calf quality average to attractive with more long weaned calves
included.

450 lbs 119.50-126.00, 415 lbs fancy 128.00; 450-500 lbs 110.00-117.50, 475-500

Direct Trade: Carcass Basis: based on 185 lbs hog carcass with 0.9-1.1 inch
back fat and 6 inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant delivered. National
direct trade barrows and gilts were .18 hgr with prices ranging from 45.00-
54.89, weighted average price 52.45. Iowa-Minnesota was .70 lwr at 45.00-
54.39, weighted average price 52.99. Western Cornbelt sold .18 lwr at 45.00-
54.89, weighted average price 53.29 and Eastern Cornbelt was 1.04 hgr at 47.37-
53.38, weighted average price 51.12.
Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct barrows and gilts were 1.49 hgr
at 36.50-42.00, weighted average price 40.38. Iowa-Minnesota was 1.66 hgr at
36.50-42.00, weighted average 39.86. Western Cornbelt was 1.34 hgr at 36.50-
42.00, weighted average price 39.85. Eastern Cornbelt was 1.32 hgr at 37.69-

Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last Monday's sale, slaughter lambs sold 3.00 to
4.00 higher, lambs weighing over 90 lbs sold mostly 5.00 higher. Bulk of the
supply consisted of lambs weighing over 80 lbs. Trade moderate with moderate
demand. Slaughter ewes and bucks sold steady to 1.00 higher. All sheep and lambs
are sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.
