In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; Not enough trading
activity to fully establish a market test in any major feeding region. Steers:
Live basis; (all Grades: 2,215 head) 84.00-88.00, weighted average 86.77.
Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 456 head) 133.00-137.00, weighted average 134.40.
Heifers: Live Basis; (all Grades: 4,355 head) 84.00-88.00, weighted average
86.15. Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 576 head) 133.00.

Direct Trade: Carcass Basis: based on 185 lbs hog carcass with 0.9-1.1 inch back
fat and 6 inch square loin/2.0 inch depth plant delivered. National direct
trade barrows and gilts were 1.78 higher with prices ranging from 44.50-57.00,
weighted average price 53.94. Iowa-Minnesota was 2.76 higher at 44.50-57.00,
weighted average price 55.10. Western Cornbelt was 2.53 higher at 44.50-57.00,
weighted average price 55.25 and Eastern Cornbelt was .10 higher at 46.50-52.70,
weighted average price 51.16.
Live Basis (240-280 lbs): National direct barrows and gilts were 1.38 higher
at 34.00-43.50, weighted average price 41.65. Iowa-Minnesota was 1.83 higher at
37.50-43.50, weighted average 41.87. Western Cornbelt was 2.12 higher at 37.50-
43.50, weighted average price 41.78. Eastern Cornbelt was .89 higher at 34.00-
42.50, weighted average price 41.49.
