Daily Livestock Summary
CATTLE
Direct Trade:
In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; Thus far Thursday
negotiated cash trading was slow in all feeding regions except in Kansas where
trading and demand were moderate. Compared to last week in Kansas live sales
were steady from 87.00 to mostly 87.50 and dressed sales 1.00 higher at 140.00.
Not enough sales in all other feeding regions for an adequate market trend.
Steers: Live basis; (all Grades: 13,201 head) 82.00-88.00, weighted average
price 86.62. Dressed basis; (all Grades: 4,475 head) 132.00-140.00, weighted
average price 135.25. Heifers: live basis; (all Grades: 12,615 head) 84.00-
87.50, weighted average 86.48. Dressed Basis; (all Grades: 3,555 head) 133.00-
140.00, weighted average 138.06.
Auction markets:
Tama, IA Slaughter Cattle Auction Receipts: 914
Compared to last week: Choice steers and heifers 1.00-1.75 higher. Slaughter
Steers Choice 2-4 1175-1500 lbs 80.00-85.60. Select and Choice 2-3 1100-1300
lbs 79.00-83.50.
Slaughter Heifers Choice 2-4 1150-1400 lbs 82.50-85.50. Select and Choice 2-
3 1030-1400 lbs 80.00-83.75.
Sioux Falls Regional Slaughter - Worthing, SD Receipts: 1617 Last Week: 1809
Compared to last week slaughter steers and heifers steady to 1.00 higher,
Holstein steers 1.00 to 2.00 higher. Moderate to good demand today, good demand
for cattle to fill contracts with. Many load lots offered today. Cattle
carrying some mud this week.
Slaughter Steers: Choice 2-3 1280-1490 lbs 82.00-82.80, 1515 lbs 80.85,
qualified for All Natural Beef Program 1415 lbs 83.00. Choice 3-4 1480 lbs
82.30, 1515-1555 lbs 81.25-81.90. Returning to the country for contract 1225-
1445 lbs 81.25-83.85. Select and Choice 2-3 1345-1430 lbs 81.50-82.50.
Slaughter Heifers: Choice 2-3 1175-1395 lbs 81.75-83.25. Choice 3-4 1190-

instances 5.00-6.00 higher. Several large drafts of reputation calves
offered. Demand moderate to good for steer calves; good for heifers. Wheat
pasture looking better after some warm sunshine this
week. Quality plain to fancy for calves, plain to average for feeders.
Supply consisted of 60 percent over 600 lbs; 40 percent heifers.

price 53.54. Iowa-Minnesota 1.42 lwr at 44.50-56.00, weighted average price
53.92. Western Cornbelt 1.03 lwr at 44.50-56.38, weighted average price 54.44
and the Eastern Cornbelt .84 hgr at 50.00-55.41, weighted average price 52.38.
