TURKEY: Daily National Turkey Market-At-A-Glance
DOMESTIC MARKET HIGHLIGHTS
The market tone on 8-16 lb. hens and 16-24 lb. toms was fully steady,
instances firm. Demand for frozen whole turkeys was light to moderate.
Active trading was reported for prompt and deferred deliveries. Offers
of frozen whole turkeys were short to light. Active work schedules for
shipping and production for both fresh and frozen whole birds have
processors on a tight schedule as the holiday nears. Pre-holiday retail
ads are generating much interest at the retail level. The market tone on
tom bulk parts was steady to fully steady. Demand was light to moderate.
Offerings short to adequate. The trade sentiment for white meat was
steady and not fully tested. Offerings light to fully adequate. The market
tone on thigh meat was fully steady to firm. Inquiry was good for the short
offerings.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS
Trading was slow to moderate and centered on tom drums, mechanically
separated turkey and tails. Demand was light. Offerings short to
adequate.
