The Canadian Press reports an inaccurate email claiming to be from an Alberta cattle-feeding group asks Canadians to boycott McDonald’s for buying a majority of its beef from South America.

McDonald’s Canada and the president of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association, Brad Wildeman, say the hoax has been circulating for a long time and McDonald’s buys as much beef from Canada as it can. McDonald’s Canada purchases about 29 million kilograms each year. They would purchase more, but Wildeman says Canadian beef producers are sometimes unable to supply the lean meet McDonald’s uses.

Of the beef McDonald’s Canada doesn’t purchase locally, a majority of it is imported from New Zealand, Australia and the U.S.

Now wait a minute Mickey D's....you said the reason you don't buy all American beef to supply your American stores is because we can't supply enough either....now you're saying that you import beef from the US to supply your Canadian stores??? You got some splanin' to do! That makes no sense.
