Pacelle (Puh-selly) has headed up this organization for a scant 4 years.In that short time, this self-confessed vegetarian has taken the organization from a group of little old ladies who saw themselves as kindly protectors of cat and dogs to something he likens to the National Rifle Association for the animal rights movement.He’s also the founding father of California’s Proposition 2, the biggest single threat to the current state of American animal agriculture.
According to a recent story in the New York Times, “he’s merged his 10.3-million-member organization by merging with several smaller animal-welfare groups, cherry-picking some of their top leaders and boosting his budget from $75 million to $127 million, making the Humane Society the richest and most powerful animal-welfare group in the country, with its own in-house investigation, litigation and campaign teams.”
He’s gone after pigs, poultry, eggs, veal calves, and your cattle and he’s done it with great skill and an innate knowledge of how to manipulate public opinion.
Bruce Freidrich, V.P. of International Grassroots Campaigns, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Here’s how Activistcash.com described Cousin Brucie: “Bruce Friedrich, nakedly exposes his views -- and everything else. Arrested in London in July 2001 for streaking Buckingham Palace with the words “go vegan” painted on his body, Friedrich specializes in confrontation. He threw a glass of water at London’s visiting mayor in Washington, DC when he didn’t like the mayor’s answer to a question about pigeon food. Friedrich also spent over a year in prison for attacking an Air Force fighter plane with a hammer.”
Although he doesn’t have the same clout Pacelle – this prince of silliness is best known for talking “B” grade actresses into doffing their duds for the ‘cause’ and other frat house pranks – he is the mouthpiece for an organization that counts it members in the millions and has branches in Europe and Asia.And therein lies the threat; Bruce and PETA stand four-square against hamburgers, hunting, leather, rodeos and circuses.
Neal Barnard, MD, President and founder, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
Barnard is a former PETA President and one of the few physicians on this bogus committee.PCRM is an animal rights group that can claim less than four percent of members are actual physicians. In real life, he’s a vegan psychiatrist who claims that cheese is “dairy crack” and “morphine on a cracker.”
Barnard, who could use some psych treatment himself, has allowed PCRM to establish links with FBI-designated terrorist groups, including the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC). In 2001, he co-signed a series of threatening letters with the U.S. president of SHAC, who was convicted on federal terrorism charges in 2006.
PCRM discourages donations to critical medical charities, including the American Heart Association, the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Red Cross, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation because they support research that requires the use of animals.
Dr. Jerry Vlasak, “Press Officer,” Animal Liberation Front
He is a true and unrepentant fanatic who openly advocated the use of violence to further animal liberation goals. Vlasak was a PCRM spokesperson when he first called for the “political assassination” of medical research scientists in 2003. “I don’t think you’d have to kill—assassinate—too many.I think for 5 lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, 10 million non-human lives.”
Another frightening Vlasak rant: "Lastly, anyone who believes in the possibility of total animal liberation while billions of humans continue to inhabit and decimate the planet is delusional. Only when most humans have died off will there be a chance to returning to a society that values all beings for who they are.”
He’s a danger to your barn – he’ll be the man who urges that it be fire-bombed.He’s a danger to your family – especially if any of them are involved in working with animals that might be used as a food resource.From what he’s said, he’s also a danger to the human race.
Nanci Alexander, President and Founder, Animal Rights Foundation of Florida
Allegedly the money woman behind PCRM, she heads up a group that claims credit for the passage of a Florida constitutional amendment that banned gestation crates. It was the precursor of California’s Prop 2.The group also helped end annual dove hunts sponsored by the Boy Scouts of Florida.
ARFF TV, a mobile video theater, travels throughout the Florida firing salvos at the entertainment industry, ‘factory’ farms, and the fur industry. No attempt is made to balance their viewpoints which are shared as the absolute truth with adults and impressionable children.
