National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week Ending Nov 06, 2009
Compared to last week: Slaughter cattle steady in Kansas while
Texas feed yards have yet to trade at time of report. Nebraska sales
mostly on a live basis and 1.00 lower. Texas holding out for something
better than steady despite the sharp decline in cattle futures today.
Boxed beef prices held mostly steady. Boxed Beef prices averaged 138.21
up .11 from last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is now at 5.32.
Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through
Friday morning totaled 109,046 head. Last week's movement totaled
179,762 head.
Midwest Direct Markets:
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-80 Percent Choice, 1200-1400 lbs: 85.00-86.00
Dressed Basis: Steers and Heifers: few 134.00-134.50.
High Plains Direct Markets:
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-65 percent Choice, 1100-1400 lbs: 87.00-87.50 (Kansas)
Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices):
Slaughter cows and bulls steady to 2.00 lower.
USDA's Cutter cow carcass cut-out value Friday morning was 102.89 up
.26 from last Friday's close.
