LINCOLN, Neb., July 24, 2009 -- Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 1.92 million cattle on feed on July 1, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. The inventory was down 6 percent from last year. Placements in feedlots during June totaled 270,000 head, down 7 percent from 2008. Marketings of fed cattle during June totaled 440,000 head, down 7 percent from last year. Other disappearance during June totaled 20,000 head, compared to 15,000 head in 2008.
