LINCOLN, Neb., August 21, 2009 -- Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 1.92 million cattle on feed on August 1, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. This inventory was the same as last year.
Placements in feedlots during July totaled 410,000 head, up 28 percent from 2008. These placements were the highest on record for the month of July.
Marketings of fed cattle during July totaled 400,000 head, down 9 percent from last year. Other disappearance during July totaled 10,000 head the same as 2008.
