Daily Livestock Summary
CATTLE
Direct Trade:
In the direct slaughter cattle trade in the Five Major Marketing Areas,
Texas/Oklahoma; Kansas; Nebraska; Colorado; Iowa/Minnesota; for Friday afternoon
not enough sales in the Texas Panhandle to establish an adequate market trend.
Steers: Live basis; (all Grades: 666 head) 87.50. Dressed basis; (all Grades:
930 head) 132.00-139.00, weighted average 134.64. Heifers: Live basis; (all
Grades: 700 head) 85.00-87.50, weighted average 85.96. Dressed Basis; (all
Grades: 70 head) 133.00-134.00, weighted average 133.31.
For the week: Live sales were steady from 87.00 to 87.50 in Kansas and
dressed sales 1.00 higher at 140.00. In Nebraska live sales were 1.00 lower
from 85.00 to 86.00 and dressed sales were 1.00 lower at 134.00. In Colorado
live sales were 1.00 to 3.00 lower at 85.00. In the Western Cornbelt live sales
were mostly steady at 84.00 and dressed sales unevenly steady at 134.00.

week ending 10-31-2009 was 1275 lbs with 42 percent heifers compared to 1281 lbs

same week a year ago.
