Wisconsin’s Heartland CO-OP Debuts Organic Feeds
Heartland Country Cooperative, Westby, WI, has announced the introduction of a new brand of certified organic livestock feed - Natures Grown Organics(TM).
Starting with the debut of organic chick starter, poultry grower rations and laying feed for adult hens, Natures Grown Organics feed will be available in 40 pound bags throughout retailers in the Midwest and Great Lakes states, with rapid distribution expansion plans underway to make the product available across the United States. Organic feeds for goats, sheep, rabbits, pigs, calves, as well as cattle minerals, will be added soon to the Natures Grown Organics product portfolio.
Milled by Heartland Country Cooperative in rural Westby, Wisconsin, Natures Grown Organics is poised to be a premier source of high-quality feed for organic livestock farmers. As a trusted, respected and experienced feed mill, Heartland's expertise is built upon a deep history of producer satisfaction and nutritional advancements.
"Expanding into organic feed production was a natural evolution for us," says Randy Dahlen, general manager of Heartland Country Cooperative. "With the availability and capacity offered by our milling operations here in Westby, we realized that we could help organic producers by dedicating the facilities to certified organic feed production that follows our strong, quality-focused feed milling processes."
Natures Grown Organics feed meets the needs and expectations of a rapidly growing agricultural segment. "Raising organic livestock can be one of the easiest things someone can do to increase value and quality of their food," adds Dahlen. "Organic products continue to increase in popularity and are sought by local consumers. However, raising organic livestock has to start with organic feed, and we are excited that Natures Grown Organics now can not only be an outstanding, quality source for this feed, we also strive to make it conveniently available."
Natures Grown Organics feed is available at a growing number of retail locations. Early in-store retailers include Theisen's Iowa store locations in Ames, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Marshalltown, and Maquoketo; as well as Norby's Farm Fleet stores in Northeastern Iowa. More than 15 additional locations throughout the Midwest also have committed to making the brand available.
"We are thrilled by the early interest our retail partners have expressed in this brand," says Charley Fisher, sales manager for Natures Grown Organics. "We know this product line is exciting and will be popular. And so, we are committed to helping customers get this product, wherever they are located.
