Dee Griffin, DVM, MS, Clay Center, Neb., received the prestigious 2009 Academy of Veterinary Consultants Consultant of the Year award sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health. Griffin has been described as the “veterinary practitioner’s consultant”. He works with consultants and practitioners on many levels both directly and through continuing education opportunities. He introduced many veterinary students to beef food animal medicine. He advises many local, state and national cattlemen’s associations on important current issues. He maintains a working relationship with many packers in the beef industry which makes him a positive liaison between practicing veterinarians and the commercial sector of the industry. His work on the Beef Quality Assurance program is legendary.

Dee graduated in 1975 from the Oklahoma State University College of veterinary Medicine, then an MS from Purdue University. Currently he is a professor at the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center in Clay Center, Neb. Dee is a past president of the AVC and has received numerous prestigious industry awards.
