"Precision Nutrition" is AABP-AVC pre-conference Seminar 25 and will be held Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the AABP-AVC meeting in Albuquerque, N.M.

The objective is to demonstrate and forecast the impact of Information Technology on making precision animal nutrition a reality in the animal industries   in a practical, hands-on, take-it-back-to-the-farm format.

Topics will include:

  • Real-time nutrient analysis, on-farm, with a new, portable NIR instrument.
  • Flowing data on dairy farms – from the milking parlor and NIR instrument to ration formulation software to the mixer (and points in-between and beyond.
  • A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for producers.
  • Auto-calculating many nutrients from a select few measured nutrients.
  • Supplier database for traceability and nutrient analysis history – knowing what you’re getting before you get it.
  • Visual monitoring with wireless cameras – cow, feed, and employee management and security.
  • The evolution of networked animal agriculture.
