Geni Wren A herd health management plan is vital to profitable beef production. Some producers, however, do not vaccinate until they experience a loss, say beef cattle experts at the University of Arkansas.  The investment in disease prevention is less than the cost of disease treatment, and producers should not wait until a disease outbreak occurs before implementing a sound herd health program.

The University of Arkansas offers guidelines for beef herd vaccinations that veterinarians can share with their producers to make sure they are making the most of their herd health plans.
