College football team’s bus collides with herd killing 9 cows

A herd of cattle blocking the road was hit by a bus transporting the Dodge City Community College football team home after a game early Sunday morning.

The crash killed nine of the cattle standing in the road and temporarily delayed the trip home for part of the team. The accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. east of Spearville, Kan.

The Dodge City Daily Globe reports the passengers on the bus suffered no injuries and the driver was able to maintain control of the bus during the accident.

The bus was damaged and a second bus was required to pick up the stranded passengers and transport them the rest of the way home.

The Dodge City Community College football team played in El Dorado, Kan. Saturday night, losing to Butler Community College 41-6.
