Cattle producers feel a sense of justice now that a southwest Missouri man allegedly responsible for stealing cattle and farm equipment valued at more than $100,000 is behind bars.

Alleged cattle rustler behind bars after extensive manhuntPrior to his arrest, Howard Lee Perryman, 67, led authorities on a 12-hour chase starting at 6:30 Thursday morning. OzarkFirst.com reports the Patrol’s Rural Crimes Unit and sheriff’s departments in Barry and Greene Counties led the pursuit. Agencies in surrounding counties assisted in the manhunt.

Perryman may be linked to multiple agricultural investigations of livestock and equipment theft. According to OzarkFirst.com, he is held in Greene County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond.

Authorities tracked the rustler on foot with tracking dogs and metal detectors in addition to surveillance by sky.

KY3 says an update on the investigation will be provided by the Highway Patrol and Greene County Sheriff's Office in a news conference Monday.
