Arkansas ranch missing over 140 cattle

High cattle prices make cattle theft a more lucrative business and a costly one for ranchers across the country.

The latest theft has one Arkansas ranch missing approximately 145 head of cattle valued near $150,000. The cattle were stolen between 3 p.m. April 12 and 7 a.m. the following morning from Yellow Creek Ranch in Fulton, Ark.

Hempstead County Deputies are investigating the theft reported by John T. Miller, foreman of the Yellow Creek Ranch. According to Miller, someone entered the pasture, separated cattle by weight and loaded on to stock trailers.

The Hope Star reports the Black Brangus steers, weighing about 700 pounds each, had white ear tags numbered from 1 to 300.
