Milwaukee-based  private equity firm Mason Wells is the new owner of Yoakum, Texas-based meat processor Eddy Packing Co. Inc.

As part of the deal, finalized Jan. 4, Eddy Packing named Scott McNair -- whose previous experience  includes executive positions at Tyson Foods, ConAgra,  Nestle and Schwan’s Home Service -- as its president and chief executive officer, according to a company news release.

Ronald Beeman, who had owned Eddy Packing since 1998, will continue as an investor and member of

the board of directors, according to the release.

Eddy Packing is a diversified processor of beef, pork and poultry products, including fully cooked, marinated, cured, fresh and frozen meat products such as smoked sausage, fajita meat, pulled beef/pork, ribs, pork chops/loins, and brisket, according to the company website.

Eddy Packing also supplies private-label products to retailers and foodservice distributors.
