Regardless of political parties, most Americans – both Republicans and Democrats – share a generally positive view of farming and agriculture.

According to a new Gallup survey, agriculture and farming were popular most among Republicans, who considered it the most positive than any other business and industry. Two thirds of the Republicans surveyed gave positive ratings to the industry compared to 57 percent of Democrats.

Rick Newman wrote for Yahoo! Finance that Americans gave many industries an approval boost this year, including restaurants, computers, the Internet and even Uncle Sam.

“On the whole, in fact, Americans seem considerably less cranky toward most industries than they were just a couple years ago. Imagine that: An improving economy makes everyone more popular,” Newman wrote.

When broken down by age, agriculture was rated positively across the ages. From Americans between the ages of 18 and 29, 62 percent gave the industry a positive ranking, compared to 57 percent of those aged between 30 and 49 years and 61 percent of participants aged 50 years or older.

Farming was considered one of the top three most positively-rated industries of all ages surveyed. Click here to see the survey results.
