The American Gelbvieh Association released genomic-enhanced EPDs with this fall's international cattle evaluation. The EPDs not only combine pedigree, individual performance and genomic information, but they also save producers time and money, by reducing risk and speeding up the rate of genetic progress.

According to A Steak in Genomics, the genomic-enhanced EPDs are more precise, because they are a combination of both phenotype and DNA. The development of these EPDs has been a work-in-progess since 2012.

The genomic-enhanced EPDs help producers collect data on traits that are expensive or hard to measure.
