The Hays Daily News reports a $15.6 million investment by the Kansas Department of Commerce will help convert a natural gas power plant to methane powered by cattle manure from a nearby feedlot.
The estimated $28.2 million project will update the Western Plain Energy facility in western Gove County with a biomethane digester.
Funding for the project was reallocated to ensure money supplied by the Recovery Act stayed in Kansas.
