Sort of a confused message in this video. Chasing carcass data in selecting replacements has caused considerable trouble for cow longevity. As they said, chase fertility first but I say chase it always. The sire you use on the cows should provide carcass and feeding traits. The trick is to have a herd of feeder calf makers with longevity like Tar/Angus- "opti-moms" and other crossbred prescription cows- that do not detract from feeding and carcass traits while having 10 or 12 calves in their life.
