Salford Inc., manufacturers of tillage, seeding and fertilizer application equipment have acquired BBI Spreaders, a leading manufacturer of precision dry material applicators for the agriculture, construction and golf industries. The transaction between the two privately-owned companies closed on October 2, 2014.
“BBI is a great fit for us because they come to the market with the same philosophy as Salford — create simple, durable equipment with innovations that improve the profitability of farm businesses,” said Geof Gray, President of Salford Group. “By adding the strengths and expertise of BBI to the Salford Group, we’ll be able to offer even more innovative products that reduce the number of passes and time required to complete field operations.”
The two company’s equipment lines are complimentary to one another and allow each business to reach new markets. In addition to the larger product offering, both companies gain access to new sales territories and will strengthen their network of hundreds of farm equipment dealerships across the United States, Canada and overseas. Over time, their engineering departments will collaborate on new product developments that leverage each businesses unique strengths and manufacturing capabilities.
BBI will continue to manufacture the industry-leading spreader line from its Georgia manufacturing facility and Richard Hagler, President of BBI Spreaders, will continue to manage manufacturing operations at the new Salford unit.
The two companies will join forces publicly for the first time at the upcoming Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia on October 14-16. Salford sales team members will be on-hand to celebrate the addition of BBI Spreaders to its design, manufacturing and marketing family. Salford will display one of their latest patented tillage designs in the BBI booth, alongside many of BBI’s top products for broadcast nutrient application.
“We are thrilled to join the Salford family,” Hagler said. “This is an opportunity for our great team at BBI to join forces with another winning team at Salford Group. This new entity is one that will be aligned in its values — peerless in its commitment to its employees, to making equipment of the highest quality, and most of all, to making an economic impact that will sustain the business of agriculture for generations to come.”
