TSCRA: Authorities searching for suspects tied to cow shooting

Rio Vista, Texas – Authorities with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) are looking for a possible suspect or suspects involved in the shooting of 1 cow at the Smith Ranch alongside County Road 1220 in Johnson County.

According to TSCRA Special Ranger Wayne Goodman, 1 cow was found shot in the head with what is believed to have been a large caliber weapon. The cow was found dead in the owner’s field close to County Road 1220. Authorities believe the cow was shot on Sunday, Nov. 4 or Monday, Nov. 5, by someone off the road.

Shooting livestock is a Class A misdemeanor. If charged, suspects could receive up to 1 year in jail and/or up to a $4,000 fine.

TSCRA is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and/or grand jury indictment of a suspect or suspects.
