U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas, along with Bobby Schilling of Illinois participated in a question-answer session with farmers in Geneseo and Rio, Ill., Oct. 3. Conaway visited Illinois to show his support for Schilling for an upcoming election, the Galesburg Register-Mail reported.
“Agriculture is our life blood,” Schilling told the Galesburg Register-Mail. “It’s the largest job creator in the state of Illinois. Our area needs to have a representative in Washington that will help the American farmer feed the world. In order to do that, we need to level the playing field and let our farmers compete."
The two, along with a few other area politicians, discussed trade and agriculture with local farmers. Farmers brought up global trade expansion.
