U.S. beef export sales fall 25%

Beef export sales fell for the third consecutive week and are now 521 metric tons below the 27-week average. Export sales of U.S. beef declined by 5,279 metric tons last week, totaling 15,469 MT. Increased sales of U.S. beef were led by Mexico (3,900 MT), followed by South Korea (2,900 MT), Russia (2,600 MT), Japan (1,700 MT) and Canada (1,500 MT). Although lower for the week, the four-week average increased by 30 percent.

Shipments of U.S. beef improved by 5 percent last week, up 802 metric tons to 17,641 MT. Shipments have slowly, but steadily increased for four consecutive weeks. Mexico imported the most U.S. beef, receiving 4,000 metric tons. South Korea was second (3,300 MT), followed by Japan (2,600 MT), Russia (2,100 MT), and Canada (1,700 MT).
