The American Meat Institute has established an online community for meat and poultry lovers to share stories, recipes and anything else that would interest a carnivore. The Facebook page is appropriately titled Meat.

An announcement for the new page was released Thursday. Janet Riley, senior vice president of public affairs at the American Meat Institute, says the page was created because so many people share an emotional bond through the meat and poultry they eat.

"There are many ways that people celebrate meat, but we noticed there was no central, online hub for people to congregate in a virtual space and share the bond meat and meat culture inspires," Riley said.

AMI will manage the page and make updates for photos and events ranging from high-dollar steaks to hot dogs sold by street vendors.
