KLA: Governor appoints Kansas cattle feeder to bioscience board

Cattle feeder Lee Borck of Manhattan has been appointed to the 11-person Kansas Bioscience Authority (KBA) Board of Directors. Created through the Kansas Economic Growth Act of 2004, KBA’s mission is to expand the state’s research capabilities, promote innovation and encourage company formation that results in job creation.

Borck is chairman of Innovative Livestock Services and the Beef Marketing Group. He is a past president of KLA. Borck was inducted last year into the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame.

“Lee is a well-qualified and highly respected advocate for Kansas agriculture interests,” said Gov. Sam Brownback, who appointed Borck to the board. “I appreciate his willingness to serve the state of Kansas in this important role.”

The Kansas Senate must confirm Borck’s appointment. He succeeds board member and former governor John Carlin, who had served on the authority since 2006.
