Scholarships available to Kansas students

The Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF), in conjunction with Merck Animal Health and GoBob Pipe & Steel, is offering several scholarships for the 2012-13 school year.

Merck Animal Health annually provides funds for several Ralgro Wheels for Bucks scholarships. This year Merck/KLF will award $1,500 scholarships to veterinary medicine students at Kansas State University who plan to work with large animals. In addition, $1,000 scholarships are being offered to students at Kansas community or senior colleges pursuing degrees in agriculture or a related field. Preference will be given to K-State and Fort Hays State upper classmen with a career goal of being actively engaged in livestock production. The number of Wheels for Bucks scholarships given will be dependent upon the number of qualified applicants in each category. Funds for these scholarships are donated by Merck based upon Ralgro sales in Kansas.

The first-ever GoBob Pipe & Steel/KLF $2,500 Cattlemen’s Scholarship will be awarded to a student at a Kansas community or senior college in the fall of 2012 who is pursuing a degree in agriculture or a related field. This scholarship is made possible through purchases of GoBob products by members, as well as proceeds from a bale feeder sold at auction during the KLA Convention last December.

The application for these and other KLF scholarships is available here or can be obtained by calling the KLA office or e-mailing letty@kla.org. All applicants must be graduates of a Kansas high school. Applications and supporting materials must be postmarked by April 16.
