R-CALF USA directors have called upon Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to not only support a recommendation by Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., and Rep. Harry Teague, D-N.M., to establish a Border Patrol Forward Operating Base in the region known as New Mexico’s boot heel, but also to do much more to fully protect the sovereignty, safety and security of U.S. citizens, particularly the U.S. ranch families along the U.S.-Mexico border.
On Saturday, a fellow U.S. rancher from Arizona was tragically slain on his ranch by an intruder authorities believe to be an illegal alien.
Among the most vital roles of government is the protection of its citizens from foreign threats. The threats associated with illegal border crossing and drug trafficking at the U.S.-Mexico border have persisted for far too long. The ranch families along this border who continually face this threat deserve much more from their government.
“We extend our prayers and sympathies to the Arizona ranch family whose peace and liberty have been irreparably shattered, and we urge Homeland Security to take immediate, decisive action in the memory of this family to ensure that no others must endure such a tragic and senseless loss,” said R-CALF USA President/Region VI Director Max Thornsberry.
