DENVER –The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) is pleased to announce the line-up of speakers for the 2011 Cattle Industry Convention. Richard “Pitch” Picciotto, the highest-ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center collapse, and the last fireman to escape the devastation,will officially kick offthe convention with keynote remarks at the opening general session called “Last Man Down,” sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. During the session, on Wednesday, Feb. 2, Picciotto will share his harrowing true story of an American hero, a man who thought nothing of himself and gave nearly everything for others during one of our nation’s darkest hours.
“We’re thrilled with the line-up of speakers set to participate in this year’s cattle industry convention,” said Steve Foglesong, NCBA president. “This diverse and knowledgeable group will help set the tone for a productive and engaging week ahead in Denver.”
Piccioto’s book, Last Man Down, is a tribute to the 343 firefighters and 2,400 civilians who lay perished in the rubble that surrounded him on that day. Attendees will hear Picciotto tell an outspoken account of that indelible day, shaking and inspiring audience members to the core.
The General Session II called “America’s Challenges” on Thursday, Feb. 3, sponsored by Bayer Animal Health, will feature Karl Rove discussing the biggest challenges facing the Obama Administration and political parties, and what the most important decisions are facing our country today. Rove has been described as, “one of the most influential and popular pundits of our time.” He served as Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000-2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004-2007 coordinating the White House policy-making process. As a Fox News contributor, Rove provides a “genuine feel of inside knowledge” and “has focused his punditry on what he knows best: strategy.” Rove writes a weekly op-ed for The Wall Street Journal, is a Newsweek columnist, and is the author of the book, Courage and Consequence.
