R-CALF says Beef Board officer has conflict of interest

R-CALF USA has sent a complaint to Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and USDA Inspector General Phyllis Fong, saying a news article indicates Weldon Wynn, vice chair of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB), also has been elected vice chairman of the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA).

CBB administers the beef checkoff, and according to the R-CALF release, USFRA receives checkoff  funding and is seeking a 2013 grant in the amount of $216,958 from the checkoff.

"If our information is correct, this is an outrageous conflict of interest," R-CALF USA wrote in its complaint. The complaint states it would be unconscionable for USDA to tolerate a CBB appointee that serves in a fiduciary capacity for an organization that is a recipient of Beef Checkoff Program funds, and it “would be equally unconscionable if USDA does not provide even rudimentary oversight over the Beef Checkoff Program to ensure that such a blatant conflict of interest does not occur.”

Oh, this pompous Bill Bullard strutting dust up is merely to divert our attention from R-CALF's latest self-inflicted humiliation: http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2012/12/federal-country-of-origin-labeling-lawsuit-has-lawyer-problem/#.UMJFQ--WSzo Seems R-CALF teamed with the so-called Made in USA Foundation, a "group" owned and operated by a crooked lawyer, hitching together to make an unholy stink over COOL legislation (and probably run up some mighty fine fat legal fees in the doing). R-CALF just keeps stepping in it. Wasn't that long ago they partnered with anti-agriculture activist cult Food & Water Watch and fellow co-conspirators responsible for Meatless Mondays. With helpers like R-CALF agriculture doesn't need any of its other enemies.

As a wise old prophet once said "If you have not studied the facts and you don't know what you are talking about, it is wise to keep your lips (pen down) shut rather than opening them and revealing the ignorance and not leave any doubt". A fact remains that Bill Bullard is a serious concern to anyone in the industry when it comes to facts vs rhetoric. You included.. A debate with rhetoric is just a joke. Go get the facts then come back. You know nothing about the COOL case other than what you read. You should have listened until you had all the facts. God put two ears and one mouth on people for a reason! Listen and learn!
