American Farm Bureau Federation president Bob Stallman this week wrote a letter to Congress saying a ban on the non-therapeutic use of antibiotics in animals would endanger animal health and food safety. A bill recently introduced in Congress would ban many antibiotics from use in livestock unless the animals are ill, but Stallman stresses that producers use the products carefully, judiciously and according to label instructions to treat, prevent and control disease.
