The Kentucky Tourism Council named Alltech the 2009 winner of their Kentucky Unbridled Spirit Award on Tuesday, October 27th. Their announcement took place at their annual Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Fall Conference at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky with 350 attendees present. President of Alltech, Dr. Pearse Lyons, addressed the crowd during Opening Session.
Mike Cooper, Commissioner of the Kentucky Travel and Tourism Department said, “This award is given to a person or corporation who has made a major contribution to promoting tourism in Kentucky.” Cooper presented Alltech with the award stating, “In addition to major contributions in technology, education, and the arts, they are great tourism partners. Through concerts, national, and international trade shows, providing collateral materials, videos and translation services, partnering with the Kentucky Experience, and being the title sponsor of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games…Alltech steps up to support tourism.”
Upon receiving the award, Alltech president Dr. Pearse Lyons said, “This is a great honor for Alltech. Though we market our animal health products in 120 countries around the world, our home is in Kentucky. It’s from ‘Our Old Kentucky Home’ that we look forward to hosting the world for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.”
The Kentucky Unbridled Spirit Award has been presented since 1994, and was formerly known as the Kentucky Corporate Partner in Tourism Award. Past recipients include Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Brown Forman, Kroger Company, Kentucky Distillers Association, Ford Motor Company, Gray Communications, Buffalo Trace, and Toyota Motor Manufacturing.
