The New York City-based National Sodium Reduction Initiative (NSRI) will publicly release its sodium reduction targets and industry commitments on Monday, April 26, 2010, in New York City.
The NSRI is encouraging food companies to commit to meeting as many targets as possible. Companies interested in committing to meeting some or all of the targets are requested to send the "Commitment Summary" (http://meatami.com/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/58692) and "Commitment Spreadsheet" (http://meatami.com/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/58690) to Katharine Haxall at khaxall@health.nyc.gov by Friday, April 16, 2010.
In addition, the NSRI is requesting that companies committing to meeting some of the NSRI targets report to them about other actions they plan to take toward reducing the sodium levels in their food products.
Federal government agencies will be represented at the launch event and companies that are committing to the NSRI are invited to send a representative to attend the event.
