Consumption of meat and dairy products does not increase the risk of breast cancer in women, according to three studies that will appear in an upcoming scientific journal.

These studies provide no evidence that animal-food consumption increases the risk of breast cancer, and a component of meat and dairy products — conjugated linoleic acid — may actually decrease adiposity or body fat, a major risk factor for this disease, according to an article in Science Daily.

The studies will be published in the September issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
