Michael Pollan’s scheduled lecture today on the campus of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo created more than a little controversy – at least with some of the school’s donors and one of the state’s largest agribusinesses. Pollan, author of The Omnivore's Dilemma and an activist for “sustainable” agriculture, was invited to speak to students about his views on agriculture and America’s food system.

But the Los Angeles Times reports that a major California agribusiness succeeded in turning “what was to be a campus lecture by Pollan into a panel discussion involving Pollan, a meat-science expert and one of the largest organic growers in the U.S.”
