The Congressional Agriculture Appropriations Conference Committee voted last week to reduce funding for the National Animal Identification System from $14.67 million to $5.3 million. The committee is working to reconcile House and Senate versions of the Agriculture Appropriations bill. The House version would eliminate all funding for NAIS, while the Senate version would fund it.
