Time is running out for members of Cooperatives Working Together to submit bids to take part in the industry-funded dairy cow buy-out program. It is unclear how many cows will be included in CWT’s seventh herd retirement round, as the group has not set a target for the volume of milk production to be removed.  “Given the economic stresses on the farm today, we anticipate CWT will remove a significant number of dairy animals, but that depends on our members and the level of bids being submitted, given current cow prices,” said Jim Tillison, chief operating officer of CWT.
