Cattle producers looking to purchase elite Hereford genetics have a new option for sourcing genetics. The American Hereford Association (AHA) has launched a new online auction Web site — — which will feature regular online consignment auctions.

The first online auction will be Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST. Consignments for the first sale include: five bred cows, five bulls, 12 heifers, one commercial group, one embryo package and one semen package.

“The first offering is a diverse offering of outstanding Hereford genetics. We are excited about the level of response to date and are eager for the first sale,” says Joe Rickabaugh, AHA director of field management and seedstock marketing. “A big thanks goes out to the consignors in this first sale for participating in this new Hereford marketing opportunity.”

Other 2009 scheduled sale dates are Dec. 1 and Dec. 29. To consign to a future online auction or for more information, contact Rickabaugh at (816) 842-3757 or any of the regional Hereford field staff. You can also visit for information about the service and for contact information.
