Energy baron T. Boone Pickens is dropping plans for a massive wind farm in the Texas Panhandle and is looking for new homes for 687 wind turbines, according to an Associated Press story. Pickens’ company reportedly has leased 200,000 acres of land across several Panhandle counties where he planned to construct the wind turbines but has run into technical problems developing a distribution system for the power they would generate. He already has ordered the turbines, according to the AP story, and now is looking for smaller projects. Read more.
